We named ourselves Pink Paddling Power and one of our members designed the team logo. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of fitness level, age, size, shape or experience. This provides an opportunity to experience camaraderie with other BCS and compete in this intriguing sport.
Our first international race was in 2007 at the World Corporate & Community Dragon Boat Championships in Welland, Ontario, Canada. We came home with our first silver medal. In the same year at the Oshkosh Fall Fest, we won the "Team Spirit Award".
In 2012 we represented the USA BCS Survivors in the IDBF 8th Club Crew World Championships held in Hong Kong in July of 2012. We survived the challenging race venue of Victoria Harbour and received the bronze trophy. What a great experience! We are now training to represent once again, the USA BCS Survivors at the IDBF 9th Club Crew World Championships held in Ravenna, Italy, September 2014.

While the Rotary Dragon Boat races in Racine no longer exist, Racine Dragon Boat Club and team Motley Crew are still strong. The Crew formed in 2007, around the time RDBC also evolved.Initially, Motley Crew competed in Oshkosh, Wisconsin’s yearly dragon boat festival, which was routinely held in September of each year. Over the years, Motley Crew grew in team numbers, weekly practice sessions, and started competing across the greater Midwest.
The Crew has raced in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky and South Carolina – earning bronze, silver, and gold medals. In addition to paddling, we gather for activities off the water and participate in community events. The coaches are not sure if the Crew likes the sport or the team camaraderie more, which is a good problem to have!
